No need to throw bacon grease away! Bacon popcorn is so simple to make.
Ingredients:
- 1/4 Cup Popcorn (for stove top popping) Add more or less depending on what serving you want.
- Bacon grease – enough to completely coat bottom of pan
- Butter, Salt, Parmesan and other toppings are optional – depending up on how salty or smokey your bacon is – I recommend you taste prior to adding toppings
I use a stainless steel frying pan with a clear glass lid so I can monitor the popping. Melt grease on low heat. Add popcorn kernals then put lid on pan. Turn heat to medium high while sliding the pan back and forth over the heat element allowing each kernel to be coated with the grease and distribute heat evenly. If you don’t do this kernals could burn.
In about a minute you’ll start seeing/hearing the kernals popping. Continue sliding the pan while they pop. Once the kernals fill the pan and reach the inside of the lid, remove from heat.
Now you can taste and add any toppings you choose. Results vary depending upon the brand of bacon you use. Mine tends to be salty and smokey so there’s no additional salt or butter needed.
Enjoy!
