For some reason I was compelled to look out my window at the animals. I saw Luca passed out next to the barn seemingly in a deep sleep. Suddenly, he jumped into the air and just missed grabbing a hawk diving down to take one of my babies – he only missed taking this hawk by inches.
I don’t know how he learned hawks are dangerous to his flock. Maybe he learned from seeing one taken or watching the reactions of the chickens. His behavior is different with other birds…he hunts vultures and crows annoy him but he knows hawks are dangerous and he always scans the skies.
I think all dogs rock but after having a farm dog I don’t think there’s a harder working animal and I couldn’t respect them more.
