This morning I realized I really don’t post much about daily life. I try to post helpful information but what I loved most as a city girl longing for another life was reading and seeing other people already living my dream. So I thought I’d post more about my daily experiences.
This was a big weekend here at my little farm for two reasons. I finally pulled the trigger on getting fencing so now Daffodil Hill Farm will be a REAL farm!!! I have my wonderful mother to thank for this. She wasn’t happy when I moved far away from her (she lives near Orlando) but she’s been very supportive and given great advice on updating my property.
Fencing will also finally allow me to start landscaping since the destroyers (goats) won’t have the run of the place anymore. One of my favorite things in life are flowers – lots and lots of flowers. I haven’t been able to have many of them – except daffodils – my goats leave them alone. Part of my dream is to have flowers in as many places around the property as possible. The best job I had prior to a professional life was working at a flower shop. Making flower arrangements and seeing happy people was a great job for me.
The second amazing thing that happened was one of my older brothers visited and made a picnic table for me. The poor guy worked in sweltering heat for hours. I’ve always wanted a picnic table. I haven’t decided what I’m going to do with it yet in regards to keeping it natural, staining or painting but I spent a long time yesterday evening laying on top of it looking up at the sky – one of my favorite things to do. And with the cats cuddling me it made it even better.
There’s a lot going on here and little by little I’m seeing my vision come to life. Next week I’m hosting the Oxford Moms & Tots group. Hopefully the weather will be as lovely as it is today.
