This lifestyle is a complete sensory experience. From hearing the wind blow through the leaves for miles away or through the chimes or feeling it brush across my face while playing with my hair. Touching impossibly soft feathers or seeing babies being born or feeling the searing pain of loss of a beloved animal or having one fall asleep in my lap, trusting me completely. Deeply inhaling air untainted by exhaust and tasting water pulled fresh and cool from deep in the ground. Having those first tastes of sweet pecans in fall, fresh cream or mulberries in spring or tasting anything else my land provides. Finding something long buried and forgotten that’s suddenly a rediscovered and delightful surprise.
I believe most people call these the little things in life. They make us feel alive and connected. It’s literally experiencing life itself in all it’s facets. It’s love in its purest forms.
Soon the days will be much shorter. With the exception of phenomenal winter stargazing I’ll find myself mostly enjoying fireside time. Have you ever sat outside and watched the sky in winter? I love being wrapped in heavy blankets snuggled up to my big warm dog and the cats purring their contentment. I know exactly how they feel and I’m grateful.
