I haven’t posted much lately on my blog but I’ve been making changes to my site to (hopefully) make it a bit more user friendly.
I recently added a photo gallery which seems to be popular so far. I know when I was only dreaming of farm life I loved perusing the internet for farm photos, especially ones that weren’t staged. Hopefully there are some that you enjoy.
I’ve also added the ability to share my blogs on social media. Please feel free to share my stories if any speak to you.
I’m not a big fan of websites with a lot of advertising. Not only do ads slow sites down but I tend to get turned off by the visual “junk” so many blogs add in an effort to make money. There has to be a better way to make money off your experiences and knowledge than crappy distractions. If someone knows how, please let me know. I don’t have ads mostly because user experience tends to suffer.
Speaking of making money. The farm is a non profit but generates almost nothing to keep the animals. A lot of people ask what I do for a living. I’m lucky enough to work from home. I’m no longer a publicist but I did keep the part of my business for web and graphic design. Since that’s what pays the bills I’m also working on adding another gallery for my work portfolio – it will be a “hidden” button so it won’t junk up the site.
I’m also working on a few other updates I’ll share with you when they launch.
Other than the website updates, I’ve been busy writing my book, doing daily farm chores and working with new clients. So, I’m still around.
In regards to the website changes, overall, I’m looking to connect and communicate with visitors. If you have ideas you’d like to see or have me talk about please contact me via the contact form. I always respond within a day.
If you’ve ever contacted me and I didn’t respond (unless you’re trying to sell me something, I always respond) please resend. Email isn’t exactly the most reliable technology but I believe I receive at least 95% of emails. I receive a lot of fake emails so it’s possible I get delete happy sometimes.
For almost daily posts please consider following me on social media: Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Pinterest. Links are at the top of this page.
More later! xo
