It’s been awhile since I last posted. A lot has happened and I’ve been down but In light of having so many friends who have been affected by hurricanes I thought it would be a good time to post for those without electricity or water. This is simple knowledge that can be used anytime.
I understand vanity goes out the door when you’re in emergency situations but sometimes it’s nice to not have greasy hair if you can help it. The little things can go a long way in helping morale. And it can be used anytime as a replacement for baby powder or chemical dry shampoos.
All Natural Dry Shampoo at Home:
For blondes:
1 part arrowroot or cornstarch (one application should only require a tablespoon or less)
*Optional – you can add a few drops of any essential oil for a light scent.
Simply apply directly to oily areas of your hair using an old makeup brush. Don’t use the same brush you currently use to apply powders or you could risk breakouts. Use separate brushes. If you over-apply all you have to do is fluff the extra powder out of your hair.
For brunettes or red heads:
1 Part arrowroot or cornstarch
1 part cacao powder (unsweetened)
*Optional – you can add a few drops of essential oil. For this recipe I recommend a mint oil to complement the cacao scent.
Combine the ingredients in a container you can easily access the powder with your brush. Mix well.
Using an old loose powder makeup brush, apply directly to oily areas of your hair. If you over-apply all you have to do is fluff out the extra powder.
Easy Peasy. And it works.
